2. How We Use Information

We use information only for educational and operational purposes:

To deliver platform functionality.
To administer and manage user accounts.
To support educators and students in real-time.
To improve the platform and user experience.
To comply with legal and contractual obligations.

We do not use personal or student information for advertising or marketing.

3. Data Storage & Hosting

Our platform is securely hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in data centers located in the United States. GCP maintains high security and privacy standards and is certified under ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 2/3, and FedRAMP. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest using industry best practices.

4. Student Data Protection & Legal Compliance

We recognize the sensitivity of student information and are committed to compliance with:

FERPA - We act as a "school official" and only use data for educational purposes authorized by the institution.
COPPA - We do not collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental or school consent.
SOPPA (Illinois) - We protect and limit the use of student data as required by state law.

We never sell student or staff data. We will not use student information for non-educational purposes.

5. Information Sharing

We do not sell or rent any personal information. Limited sharing occurs only in the following cases:

With your school or district - for administrative oversight and account management
With trusted service providers - such as GCP, for hosting and system performance
For legal compliance - if required by law, subpoena, or to protect rights or safety
All third-party providers are contractually bound to maintain confidentiality and comply with relevant privacy laws.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Service or as directed by your school/district. Upon request or termination of your district's contract:

All student data will be deleted or returned in accordance with district policy.
Backups are securely purged within a defined retention window (typically 30-90 days).

7. Security Measures

We implement strong administrative and technical safeguards:

Encrypted storage (AES-256) and HTTPS transmissions
Role-based access controls and audit logs
Regular security testing and vulnerability assessments

Upon termination, your access will be revoked, and we may delete your data as outlined in our retention policy.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are made, we will notify your school and/or post a notice on our website. Continued use of the platform indicates acceptance of any changes.

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
Your organization's total liability is limited to the amount your organization has paid for the Service in the last 12 months.
